OUR HISTORY

The legend has it that more than a thousand years ago the first masters of the ancient family of BAUTON were creating their masterpieces in the Baltic Sea region. Since the glorious times of Rurik, the ancestors of our masters would repair the boats where they were portaged along the trade route “from the Varangians to the Greeks”. These boats could withstand any storm and hits of iron cannonballs. The masters of those days could build dependable fortress walls and powerful fortifications; they knew the secrets of the “freemasons” and could build arches and formerets.

Years passed, times changed, new lands and countries appeared…

Today, BAUTON branch offices are open not only in the Baltic states, but also in the UK, Netherlands, Switzerland and Belgium.

MEET OUR PEOPLE

Aleksandr Nedaskovski

Executive Director

I like restoring historical buildings. As a child, I wanted to become an archaeologist and was very interested in history. Every building is unique; it has its own image and its own character. Materials, from which such buildings are made, have stood the test of time. These buildings were made to stand for centuries to come, and they keep up the spirit of their epoch. Giving the original appearance to these buildings means passing their beauty to the next generations and leaving your footprint in eternity. Tatiana Kouru

Head of the design department

I was first exposed to historical buildings back in 1979 when I worked as the construction project manager at the Estonian Railways. Immediately after I graduated from university, I was lucky to take part in restoring the facades of administrative buildings in the old Tallinn, and Estonia’s historical railway terminals, which also had a rich history of their own. Since then, I fell in love with working with cultural heritage sites, and I enjoy studying the history of the buildings that we work with. Education: Tallinn University of Applied Sciences, Structural engineer, Saint Petersburg Forest Technical University, Landscape design.
